TRUMP DESERVES A NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

Lowell Ponte examines the real reason liberals want President Trump declared illegitimate

“I think the [Russian] interference, although not yet quantified, if fully investigated, would show that [Donald] Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016,” said former Democratic President Jimmy Carter last Friday.

Trump “lost the election, and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf,” Mr. Carter, now 94, continued.

Does this mean Trump “is an illegitimate president?” asked historian Jon Meacham during a dialogue with Carter in Virginia.

“Based on what I just said, which I can’t retract,” President Carter replied, “I would say yes.”

“Many liberals and Trump opponents will probably be happy to see a former president raising this issue, because they, too, believe Trump is illegitimate,” wrote political reporter Aaron Blake in Friday’s liberal Washington Post.

But consciously or subconsciously, liberals have a deeper reason for declaring Trump illegitimate. If he won legitimately, then the voters rejected the Democratic Party and its dictatorial, increasingly socialist agenda.

Leftists dogmatically believe that Democrats can only lose if Republicans somehow cheat.

Leftists called winner George W. Bush “illegitimate” in 2000. They forget that Clinton-appointed liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer ruled in Bush’s favor. Former Vice President Al Gore lost not because of Florida but because he failed to win the Clintons’ Arkansas and even Tennessee, his home state where voters who knew Gore best overwhelmingly rejected him.

In 2016, a shift of only 80,000 votes in the combined states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania could have elected Democrat Hillary Clinton. Did Russia’s spending of roughly $100,000 – barely enough, as Greg Gutfeld says, to remodel one home kitchen – cause Trump’s victory in a multibillion dollar campaign? These Russian ads – half running after the election, with roughly half the ads supporting Hillary – appear intended not to create a winner but merely to sow discord.

Since 1988, the Communist Party USA – long funded to the tune of millions by the Soviet Union – has directed its members to vote for Democratic Party candidates.

Russian agents in 2016 also interfered with our politics by concocting the Democratic Party-funded dossier to smear and justify spying on coup d’etat target Donald Trump to elect Hillary Clinton, who Russia could blackmail.

The truth, wrote Blake, is that the scant impact of trivial Russian spending in 2016 is “unknowable.” No hard evidence proves that Russia changed a single vote.

Worse, writes Blake, the things Jimmy Carter said are “probably not great for democracy. Unless you can truly prove it, labeling Trump an illegitimate president is the kind of thing that can destabilize the country – which, as it happens, is precisely what Vladimir Putin and Russia aimed to do with their 2016 interference.”

Disgusted voters threw Jimmy Carter out of office in 1980 after only one term, replacing him with Ronald Reagan. Carter remains angry, petulant and vengeful, now becoming the first ex-president to call a Republican president “illegitimate.”

Carter may be the worst president in American history, a failure in both foreign and domestic policy. He largely inspired the Democratic Party’s childish idiocy on display in last week’s presidential debates.

Carter’s economic policies caused double-digit inflation, malaise and the “misery index.” America needed a captain steering the ship, said one pundit, but in misleader Carter we got a mechanic down in the engine room tinkering with government machinery.

Carter created the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which used the threat of hyper-regulation to extort banks into giving mortgages to credit-unworthy borrowers. This mass wealth redistribution led to the economic near-meltdown of 2008-2009 that stole 39 percent of the average family’s net worth – a disaster still crippling America.

Carter’s foreign policy was a highway to hell paved with good intentions. “When I was president,” he told Meacham, “we tried to put human rights as a measuring stick in every incident.”

When Carter learned that our key ally the Shah of Iran imprisoned and tortured 3,000 Soviet agents, he ordered the CIA to terminate $4 million in annual bribes to silence clerical criticism. By cutting off this mullah moola, Carter triggered the Shah’s overthrow. The Ayatollahs seized power and immediately killed the 3,000 prisoners.

The Shah’s downfall led to the Iran-Iraq War and 500,000 deaths, to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, to Al-Qaeda fighting the Soviets, to Al-Qaeda killing 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001, and to Russia-allied Iran rushing to become a world-dominating apocalyptic nuclear terrorist state.

Jimmy Carter – a foolish, arrogant, illegitimate “social justice warrior” – opened the door to nuclear-armed American enemies Iran and North Korea.

President Trump, unlike Carter or President Barack Obama, deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.
